Random Tower Packing

The original random packing — a simple, rugged cylinder still valued for its strength, predictable behavior, and use as a support or heat-transfer layer.

Overview

The Raschig Ring — a simple cylinder whose height equals its diameter — is the original random packing and the reference against which later shapes are measured. Though modern geometries surpass it on capacity and efficiency, its simplicity, mechanical strength, and thoroughly documented behavior keep it in service today.

M10’s OS (Old School) Series metal Raschig Rings are a robust, economical option for heat-transfer duty, as a bed-support or hold-down layer beneath higher-performance packing, and for rugged services where predictability and strength matter more than peak performance. Available in carbon steel, stainless, and alloys.

Key Features

  • Simple, rugged, and mechanically strong
  • Thoroughly characterized, highly predictable behavior
  • Useful as a support / hold-down layer or in heat transfer
